Free education is one of the integral pillars of our program. Teachers and volunteers of the Navjyot Foundation conduct free educational programs daily at the Carter Road Promenade in Bandra, from 7 am to 9 am. Besides basic education, our program aims to increase awareness amongst these kids. To provide them the moral, social and ethical awareness so that they can know right from wrong and create a better future for themselves and those around them.
Children are taught about everything ranging from basic hygiene issues concerning their surroundings, to moral and ethical lessons such as respecting their parents and family elders. Regular visits to museums, zoos and other landmarks within the city ensure that their education is not just theoretical but practical as well.
Nutrition is one of the important factors in the development of a child. With the help of benefactors we are able to give our children healthy food such as milk, biscuits and fruit. We also conduct free health check-up camps, and with help from pharmaceutical firms provide free medicines to the children when needed.
At Navjyot we create an atmosphere that helps the children be part of a community. The children are encouraged to understand the significance of cultural traditions through various activities. Festivals and significant days such as Diwali or Independence Day are celebrated with the children so that they enjoy themselves and believe that they are part of a larger society, and the Navjyot family.
